The final 50th Anniversary panel discussion looks at the last two decades of rapidly changing technology and modernizing facilities, the economic and budget crisis, nimble program expansion, an emerging dedication to sustainability, and remembers some Commencement ceremonies of years gone by. Panelists include Dr. Maria Sheehan, President Emerita; Elena Bubnova, Associate Vice President for Research, Marketing, Web and IT; Dr. Julie Ellsworth, Dean, Life Sciences, Allied Health and Public Safety Division; and Ron Marston, Chair, Visual and Performing Arts Department.

Murder Mystery at the Disco

Capping the anniversary year, this fundraiser in the Student Center at TMCC’s Dandini Campus turned into the nexus of groovy tunes, 1970s-themed outfits and over 200 attendees. The evening introduced fourteen TMCC student-actors to audience members, dropping hints through casual conversations. Raising a total of $50,000 for the visual and performing arts, and culinary arts programs, and the EastView building, the evening's donors and sponsors disco-danced the night away while they solved the Murder Mystery at the Disco.

Compiled and designed by TMCC Graphic Designer Brandie Davis, the mosaic will also be on display in the V. James Eardley Student Center, Red Mountain Building, during the Spring 2022 Semester. This mashed-up Anniversary and Holiday party included a look back at our first 50 years, and TMCC traditions like the sweater contest, games and a raffle. SGA President Darian Richards served as emcee, and remarks from President Emerita Dr. Maria Sheehan remembered her tenure at the college. Note: Kahoot game is no longer live for play.

Sports and Fitness Center Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

With the ribbon cutting ceremony, the TMCC Sports and Fitness Center honored our first Athletics Director, Joe Ayarbe, as well as former President Maria C. Sheehan, for their commitment to athletics and health among the TMCC community. The 8,000 square foot gymnasium was dedicated as “Joe’s Gym” in honor of Ayarbe’s legacy, and the 3,000 square foot Strength and Conditioning Room was re-named in honor of former President Sheehan, who championed health and wellness at TMCC. Emeritus faculty members, family and friends of the Ayarbe family, student-athletes, and employees gathered to celebrate the new facility by looking back at our history and forward to the future with a continued focus on student well-being in mind, body and environment.
